Our spring tours include a program all about seeds and Caterpillars.

Enjoy Fun and Educational Experiences at Hewitts!

Hewitts Fun Farm offers a fun and educational experience for your students. Our tours are curriculum based, including living things and growing and are appropriate for kindergarten and primary aged children.

Not only are the tours filled with fun activities, but they are offered in a safe, healthy environment and related directly to what is happening in your classroom.

Pre-School and Day Care Programs

• Introduce animal classification with farm friends puppet show
• All about seeds programming
• Tour our farm animal section
• Wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch
• Each child will take home a farm grown pumpkin
• Children are invited to bring their own snack and drink to the farm.
• Children are able to play in our fun farm play yard.

Cost is $7.25 (plus Hst) each per student. For every 5 kids, 1 adult is admitted free to the farm.

Junior and Senior Kindergarten and Grade One

• Teacher selects one of our farm friendly programs which includes:
a) Discover what insects have in common
b)Learn about a pumpkins life cycle
c)The body parts and life of a bee and its importance
d)Reinforce sorting and comparing shapes and colours in our fun farm
• All about seeds programming
• Tour our farm animal corral to learn about classifying living things
• Wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch
• Each student will take home a farm grown pumpkin
• Play in our fun farm play yard
• Students are invited to bring their own snack and drink to the farm

Cost $7.25 (plus HST) per student. For every 5 kids, 1 adult is admitted free to the farm.

Grades Two and Three

• Take a wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin to take home (observe and describe how the growth of plants is affected by changes in the environmental conditions)
• Teacher will select one of the following programs:
a) Classify plants according to visible characteristics (different types of gourds and squashes, etc)
b)Navigate your way through our corn maze.
c)Farm Pumpkin Program
d)Farmers Feed the Cities Rural vs Urban differences
• All about seeds programming
• Each student will take home a farm grown pumpkin
• Play in our fun farm play yard
• Students are invited to bring their own snack and drink to the farm

*All programs are geared to correlate with the Ontario Science and Technology Curriculum.

* Teachers and EA's are included in the cost of the tour. Adult helpers are included up to a 5:1 ratio (children to adult). Any adults over this will be charged $6 each (plus HST.)

* Tours run rain or shine but we can reschedule a rain date depending availability.

• Please have students bring a bag to carry pumpkins and dress for the weather (remember the farm is very muddy when wet)

• Recommended clothing includes: rubber boots, jacket, sweater, gloves, hat and encourage students to dress in layers.
